Description
This course examines the complex and unsettling phenomenon of mass murder, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of its causes, typologies, historical context, and societal impact. Through a multidisciplinary approach, you will explore the psychological, criminological, and sociological theories that help explain mass murder. Additionally, students will critically examine media influences and stereotypes associated with mass murder. By the end of this course, students will possess a well-rounded knowledge of this topic, including the ability to engage in informed discussions based on analysis and assessment of specific cases and academic literature. Further, students will critique current proactive and reactive responses to mass murder events and create their response recommendations.
Prerequisite: EN 112 with a grade of "C" or higher, and PY 150 or SO 110.
