Description

This course uses sports as a lens to explore essential mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning. Through real-world examples drawn from athletics—such as statistics, probability, modeling, and data interpretation—students develop critical math skills while engaging with topics they already care about. Designed for general education students, the course emphasizes practical application, decision-making, and analytical thinking rather than rote computation. The course has no prerequisites and is accessible to students of all mathematical backgrounds. Successful completion will satisfy the mathematics general education requirement and will also fulfill the prerequisites for MA 205 College Algebra and MA 230/330 Introduction to Statistics.
