Description
This course examines the concept of whole person care as it relates to physical therapy. This course will emphasize three dimensions of wellness: physical, mental, and social wellness in the context of physical therapy for a single patient, as well as application in a larger community platform. Students will discuss the effects of exercise, nutrition, and the environment on a healthy lifestyle, and will demonstrate proficiency in the assessment of fitness, and exercise prescription. Additionally, students will explore educational theories, principles, and methodologies relevant to the role of a physical therapist as an educator in a variety of settings, with added emphasis on preparing the student to provide clinical education to future physical therapy students.
