Description

This course is designed to provide an introduction to, and overview of, the physiologic and metabolic responses of the human body to commonly used medications. Course content has been organized to provide the student with a theoretical knowledge based that can be used as a framework for understanding the effects of various medications on a variety of normal and pathologic conditions. Students will be expected to recall and apply information from previous coursework in a clinically relevant manner to critically analyze problems covering a variety of clinical scenarios. At a minimum this course includes principles of pharmacology, pharmacology of central nervous systems drugs, autonomic, cardiovascular, and respiratory pharmacology, drugs affecting skeletal muscle, drugs affecting pain and inflammation, endocrine pharmacology, drugs affecting physical and psychological performance, and case studies in a variety of settings.
