    Description

This introductory course uses documented true crime case studies to explore foundational concepts in criminology and the criminal justice system. Through the examination of homicide cases spanning different historical periods, students are introduced to key topics such as offender motivation, victimization, investigative practices, court processes, sentencing, and correctional responses. By analyzing how similar crimes were handled in different eras, students examine how social, cultural, legal, and technological changes influence both criminal behavior and the justice system’s response.
