    Description

    This course examines the foundations, organization, and contemporary challenges of policing in the United States. Through an exploration of the historical development of police work, students will gain insight into the evolution of law enforcement and its role in public security. Topics include the structure and duties within a police department, the ethical responsibilities and discretion required in policing, and the process of becoming a police officer. Students will also examine critical issues related to diversity, police-community relationships, and ethical decision-making.
